We’re thrilled to announce that Samson Pallet Stability has achieved an AA* rating in our unannounced BRCGS audit, the highest possible grade awarded under the globally recognised food safety and quality certification scheme.
Our audit took place just three days after major building work was completed on site. This remarkable result reflects not only our robust systems and standards but also the exceptional dedication of our team.
What Is the BRCGS?
The BRCGS (Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard) is one of the most respected benchmarks in the world for food safety, packaging, storage and distribution. It sets out a framework for managing product safety, integrity, legality and quality, as well as operational controls for these criteria in the manufacturing, processing and packaging industries.
There are several BRCGS standards, including Food Safety, Packaging Materials, Storage and Distribution, Agents and Brokers, and Consumer Products.
At Samson Pallet Stability, we are certified under the BRCGS for Storage and Distribution, a standard specifically designed to ensure that goods are stored, handled and transported in a way that maintains their safety, quality and traceability throughout the supply chain.
Understanding the BRC Audit Process
The BRC audit is an in-depth, evidence-based assessment carried out by an independent third-party certification body. It examines every aspect of a company’s operations, from management commitment and hazard analysis (HACCP) to site standards, product traceability and staff training.
Key areas of assessment include senior management commitment, hazard and risk analysis (HACCP), site standards, process control, personnel, and traceability and incident management. Each element is assessed against strict criteria, and the auditor grades performance based on the number and severity of non-conformities found.
What the AA* Rating Means
BRCGS awards grades ranging from AA* (the highest) to D (the lowest). The AA* grade is only achievable during an unannounced audit, where no prior notice is given and auditors arrive without warning to assess the site under genuine day-to-day operating conditions.
This format ensures that standards are being maintained at all times, not just in preparation for an audit. Achieving AA* therefore demonstrates consistent, embedded excellence across all areas of compliance.
Why This Is Such a Big Deal for Us
Our audit took place just three days after extensive building work was completed, a period that could easily have disrupted normal operations. Despite this, our systems, staff and site performance were so strong that we achieved the top possible result.
This success sends a clear message to our customers: you can have complete confidence in the safety, quality and consistency of our operations.
