Samson Pallet Stability Debuts Paper Wrapping Machines at IMHX & PPMA

In a bold step towards greener logistics, Samson Pallet Stability has unveiled its new paper wrapping machines to UK audiences at two of the industry’s biggest shows, IMHX and PPMA. These launches mark another milestone in the company’s mission to combine load security with sustainability.

Samson Pallet Stability has joined forces with PaperWrap green by orange GmbH to bring plastic-free pallet wrapping to the UK, Ireland and Scotland. Samson Pallet Stability will distribute and support the PaperWrap machines, which wrap pallets using fully recyclable kraft paper as a viable alternative to conventional plastic stretch film.

The advantages are compelling:

  • Reduced CO₂ emissions: PaperWrap claims up to 62% lower CO₂ emissions compared to virgin plastic stretch film.
  • Strength, flexibility and puncture resistance: the kraft paper used retains sufficient load-stabilising properties while being capable of full recycling.
  • Efficiency: one roll of Autoline kraft paper can wrap up to 750 pallets, reducing downtime from roll changes and minimising waste streams.

In short, Samson Pallet Stability is offering its customers the chance to transition to more circular, low-plastic logistics without sacrificing the safety and integrity of their palletised goods.

IMHX & PPMA: The Showcase of Innovation

IMHX 2025 (the UK’s leading logistics, warehouse, and supply chain event) provided the perfect stage for Samson Pallet Stability’s paper wrapping machines to take centre stage. Alongside their other stability, strapping, and wrapping solutions, the PaperWrap machines drew attention as a forward-looking, sustainable alternative.

Meanwhile, at PPMA (Processing & Packaging Machinery Association), long a hub for packaging breakthroughs, Samson Pallet Stability also seized the opportunity to showcase synergies between its existing offerings and the new paper wrap systems. The PPMA Total Show is a key event in the UK for manufacturers and suppliers of packaging machinery.

At PPMA in 2023, Samson Pallet Stability had previously launched Samson Nano Live, an enhanced, real-time machine monitoring dashboard for its wrapping systems. The new paper wrapping machines complement that digital capability, tying into Samson Pallet Stability’s broader suite of wrapping, load testing, and data analytics tools.

The “Pull Challenge”: Testing Tensile Strength of the Paper Wrap

One of the most striking demonstrations at the launch events was Samson Pallet Stability’s “Pull Challenge”, a hands-on test designed to showcase the tensile strength and performance of the paper wrapping in a compelling, visual way.

Whilst in some cases highly hilarious, this “Pull Challenge” helped to validate that the paper wrap is not just environmentally friendly; it is robust and reliable under load stresses. By allowing participants or observers to see for themselves how the wrap resists breakage or stretch, Samson Pallet Stability reinforces confidence in its suitability for real, demanding logistics operations.

Samson Pallet Stability’s broader testing capabilities reinforce that confidence. Their in-house tensile testing machinery can test strapping systems (parent strap and joint efficiency) up to 25,000 N. In their steel fabrication case study, Samson Pallet Stability used the tensile tester to expose an example of strapping that did not meet its claimed specifications, demonstrating that what is on paper does not always translate in practice.

Integrating with Samson Pallet Stability’s Existing Portfolio

The paper wrapping machines are not intended to replace Samson Pallet Stability’s existing Samson Nano range of stretch film machines, but to complement them, offering customers a choice between plastic or paper wrapping depending on their priorities.

The Samson Nano system has been a flagship product, offered on a capex-free, fixed price-per-wrapped-pallet model (including servicing, maintenance, film, and more). Recent additions include rotating arm machines, fully automated wrapping lines capable of 40rpm, and roping/sealing devices to eliminate loose film tails.

Moreover, Samson Pallet Stability’s Pallet Stability Testing Lab (featuring the “Slingshot” horizontal load testing) allows customers to certify whether their wrapping strategy (film or paper) is sufficient to meet EUMOS 40509 standards (0.8G load displacement tests).

Why This Matters for the UK Logistics Sector

There are several reasons Samson Pallet Stability’s new paper wrapping machines and their launch via IMHX and PPMA deserve attention within UK logistics and supply chain circles:

  1. Sustainability is no longer optional
With regulatory pressure, net-zero goals, and consumer expectations advancing rapidly, companies seek credible ways to decarbonise packaging. Offering a recyclable paper option with clear CO₂ savings gives Samson Pallet Stability’s clients a competitive edge.
  1. Trust through transparency
The Pull Challenge, tensile testing lab, and EUMOS certification capabilities signal that Samson Pallet Stability is serious about performance, not just green marketing.
  1. Flexibility for customers
Some clients may prefer to retain film-based wrapping; others may fully switch, or use a hybrid approach. Samson Pallet Stability’s diversified machinery portfolio supports that flexibility.
  1. Demonstration at industry shows builds momentum
Launching at IMHX and PPMA ensures the paper wrapping machines gain visibility among decision-makers, packaging engineers and sustainability leads across the UK and beyond.
