Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
EPR for packaging shifts the financial burden of packaging waste management from local authorities to producers.
For UK registered companies that have a turnover above £1mil and / or handle more than 25 tonnes of packaging.
EPR requires businesses to cover costs for collection, sorting, treatment, and recycling of packaging waste.
Companies must report data on their packaging, and large producers will face enhanced fees from October 2025.

EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
PPWR aims to reduce the environmental impact of packaging, promote a circular economy, and harmonise packaging rules across the EU, requiring all packaging to be recyclable by 2030 and setting targets for recycled content and waste reduction.
